What: Canine Good Manners Obedience Class (semi-private group class) Where: Near Airline Drive & David Drive in a private fenced area (Across from Zephyr field) Metairie, LA When: TBA Who can attend classes? Dogs of all sizes, breeds, and training level. Dogs should be greater than 12 weeks of age when starting class, and they must be started on their vaccination series (including a kennel cough vaccination) by a veterinarian at least 10 days prior to attending class. Adult dogs must be current on DHPP/Rabies/Bordetella. Why enroll your dog in obedience? The purpose of the Canine Good Manners Program is to ensure that the dog can be a respected member in the community because it has been trained to be well behaved in the home, in public, and in the presence of other dogs. What to expect from this class? Class will be limited to 6 dogs. This class utilizes "Dog-friendly" training methods (positive reinforcement). "Dog-friendly" training focuses on rewarding appropriate behavior with praise and food rewards, rather than correcting or forcefully punishing the dog. This makes training fun for the owner, as well as, the dog. No longer are unfriendly and inhumane methods such as prong collars or choke chains recommended tools for dog training.
